About Open Graph and Twitter Card tags

Open Graph tags are a set of meta tags, originally introduced by Facebook, that control how a page is displayed when shared on social media: title, description, image, and more. Twitter/X uses its own twitter: tags for extra control, but falls back to Open Graph tags when they're not present.

This generator runs entirely in your browser: nothing you enter is sent to a server or stored anywhere. Fill in your page details, copy the generated code, and paste it into the head section of your page.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I put the generated meta tags?
Paste them inside the head section of the HTML page they describe, ideally as high up as possible so crawlers find them quickly.
Do I need both Open Graph and Twitter/X tags?
Not strictly. If Open Graph tags are present, X falls back to them for its card preview. Adding twitter:card explicitly still helps X pick the right card layout.
Why isn't there a field for article author or publish date?
Those are article-specific Open Graph tags, out of scope for this general-purpose tool. They may become their own dedicated tool in the future.
Is my page data sent anywhere?
No. Everything happens locally in your browser — nothing is transmitted or stored on any server.
