About LocalBusiness structured data

LocalBusiness is a schema.org type that describes a physical business to search engines and AI assistants — its name, address, opening hours, and more. Adding this JSON-LD snippet to your website's head section can help your business appear correctly in search results, maps, and AI-generated answers.

This generator runs entirely in your browser: nothing you enter is sent to a server or stored anywhere. Fill in your business details, copy the generated code, and paste it into your website (e.g. inside a script tag of type application/ld+json).

Frequently asked questions

Where do I put the generated code on my website?
Paste it inside a script tag of type application/ld+json in the head section of the page that represents your business, ideally your homepage or contact page.
Why doesn't this tool ask for reviews or ratings?
Google's guidelines prohibit self-entered review or rating markup that wasn't collected from genuine customers, and can penalize sites that use it. This generator intentionally leaves those fields out.
Do I need to fill in the optional fields?
No. Only the fields marked as required are needed for valid LocalBusiness markup. Opening hours, coordinates, and social profiles improve how your business is displayed, but are optional.
Is my business data sent anywhere?
No. Everything happens locally in your browser — nothing is transmitted or stored on any server.
What is LocalBusiness schema markup?
LocalBusiness schema markup is a JSON-LD snippet based on the schema.org vocabulary that describes a physical business — its name, address, opening hours, contact details and more — in a machine-readable way for search engines and AI assistants.
What's the difference between LocalBusiness and Organization?
LocalBusiness is a more specific subtype of Organization for a physical place customers visit — it adds an address, opening hours and geo-coordinates so you can appear in local search and Maps. If you're an online-only brand or company without a walk-in location, the Organization Schema Generator is the better fit.
Can I list several locations or branches with this tool?
No, this generator produces markup for one location at a time. If your business has multiple branches, create a separate page and a separate LocalBusiness entry for each address, rather than combining them into one entity.
How do I add a lunch break or split hours for one day?
Use "Add time slot" under that day to add a second opening window, for example 9:00–13:00 and then 14:00–18:00. The tool outputs both as separate OpeningHoursSpecification entries for that day.
Do I need exact geo-coordinates, or can I skip them?
They're optional. Google can often geocode your business from the address alone, but providing precise latitude and longitude removes any ambiguity and is a nice-to-have, especially for businesses in dense areas or new developments not yet fully mapped.
What business type should I pick if none of the options matches exactly?
Choose the closest match, or fall back to "Other / general business" (LocalBusiness), which is always a valid schema.org type. A close-but-imperfect subtype is generally fine — Google mainly needs to recognize that the page represents a local, physical business.
Does this markup register my business with Google Business Profile or Maps?
No. LocalBusiness structured data and Google Business Profile are separate systems — this JSON-LD helps search engines and AI assistants understand your website, but you still need to claim and verify your listing directly through Google Business Profile to appear in Maps and the local pack.
What are common mistakes when adding LocalBusiness schema?
The most frequent ones are listing an address or phone number that doesn't match what's shown on the page, picking a business type that's too generic when a more specific one exists, forgetting to update opening hours after they change, and marking up multiple unrelated locations as a single entity.
